ATAS setup

Installing, connecting, and first login.

Updated September 11, 2026

ATAS is an order flow platform. It reads the same Rithmic connection as R|Trader Pro and Quantower, and what you are paying for is the footprint chart, the cluster analysis, and the volume tools built on top of it.

You need your own ATAS licence

ATAS is not included in what you paid us.

The licence has to be bought from ATAS, on the Pro or Ultra plan. The free plan will not connect a Rithmic account, so it will not trade with us no matter how it is configured.

Read the whole page before you pay for anything. If nothing here sounds like your setup, R|Trader Pro and Quantower both cost nothing and both read the same feed.

Before you start

You need an account on Rithmic. ATAS logs in with Rithmic credentials, so if you are not sure what you bought, check the feed behind each platform.

You need your Rithmic username and password. They are emailed to you after checkout and they are in your dashboard.

You need Windows 10 or later, or macOS.

Accept the Rithmic agreements first

Go to Rithmic's agreement page, sign in with your Rithmic credentials, and accept the agreements listed there.

If you are asked whether you use the data as a professional or a non-professional, choose Non-Professional unless you hold a financial licence, work for a financial firm, or use the data for a business. Professional status is billed by Rithmic, per exchange, every month.

Do this before you touch ATAS. Until the agreements are signed the connection will authenticate and then sit there with no quotes, which reads like a broken platform and is not one.

Install it

Download the current build from atas.net/atas-download, or from the download tab inside your ATAS dashboard. Pick the Windows or macOS build to match your machine.

Take the current version. Our server entry only appears in recent builds.

Open ATAS and sign in with your ATAS account, the one your licence is on. This is not your Rithmic login and it is not your Lumen login. There are three sets of credentials in this process and mixing them up is the other common failure.

The connection

ATAS documents this window with screenshots. Follow it, but use our server: LumenFutures.

Open the Home tab on the main toolbar and press Connections.

Press Add, choose Rithmic under US and EU markets, and press Next.

Field Value
Connection name Anything you recognise. Lumen is a good choice
Login Your Rithmic username, exactly as the dashboard prints it
Password Your Rithmic password, same
Server LumenFutures
Area The one closest to you
Aggregated quotes Off
Connect via R|Trader Pro Off, unless R|Trader Pro is already running

Username and password are both case sensitive.

Aggregated quotes. Leave it off unless you know you want it. It thins the quote stream, which is easier on a slow connection and worse for anyone reading the ladder tick by tick.

Connect via R|Trader Pro. Leave it off and ATAS connects to Rithmic on its own. That is the setup this page assumes, and it needs the account free: if the same Rithmic account is logged in somewhere else, the direct connection will not come up.

Tick it if you want ATAS open at the same time as R|Trader Pro. That is the way to run two platforms rather than logging in twice. Start R|Trader Pro first with Allow Plugins already on and log in there before you connect ATAS. The settings on both sides have to match, aggregated quotes included, and both have to stay open.

Press Finish. The connection appears in the connections table. Press Connect.

The first time you connect, ATAS shows an agreement window about OCO orders. Read it, then press I Accept, Please Continue.

Your stops are simulated on your PC, not held on Rithmic's servers

That agreement window is telling you that ATAS simulates OCO orders locally, on your computer, and that they need the platform connected to work.

So the stop and the target are linked by ATAS, not by Rithmic. If ATAS is closed or disconnected when one side fills, the other side is not cancelled: it stays working, and it can put you back in the market on a position you thought you were out of. A laptop that sleeps or a long enough Wi-Fi drop does the same thing.

R|Trader Pro holds those orders server side instead. If you leave trades running while you are away from the machine, that difference is the thing to decide on.

Once you are in

Open the Accounts tab at the bottom of the platform and select your Lumen account. Check that the balance is the one you expect and that prices are moving before you place anything.

Level 1 data is included, and there is no separate data bill from us. Footprint and cluster charts are built from time and sales rather than from depth of market, so they run on that feed. What is included

When it does not work

LumenFutures is not in the server list. Your build is old. Download ATAS again from the link above and install over the top.

Password rejected. Check LumenFutures is the selected server, then check which of your three logins you are typing. Rithmic credentials go in the connection, your ATAS credentials go in the platform, and your Lumen website login goes in neither.

It will not connect, and the credentials are right. Your Rithmic account is logged in somewhere else. Rithmic expects your credentials in one place, so close R|Trader Pro, Quantower, or whatever else is holding them, then connect again. If you want ATAS open alongside R|Trader Pro, use Connect via R|Trader Pro rather than logging in twice.

It connects but there are no quotes. The Rithmic agreements are not signed. Go back to the link above, accept them, then disconnect and reconnect. If you have more than one connection in the table, also check that Quote Provider is ticked on this one and not on the other.

It connects but you cannot place an order. Your licence does not cover it. Live trading needs the Pro or Ultra plan.

Your account is not in the Accounts tab. Disconnect and reconnect. If it is still missing, the account is not active yet on our side, and that one is ours to fix.

The connection drops. Turn off your VPN. After that, disconnect and reconnect from the Connections panel, then restart ATAS. ATAS warns that Rithmic connections are sensitive to processor load as well as to the network, so a machine that is pinned at 100% will drop the connection on its own.

"Connection Interrupted", or a message about a heartbeat being quiet for so many seconds. That is Rithmic telling ATAS the link is unhealthy, and it is worth stopping for. Prices, volume and your open position can all read wrong while the PnL connection is affected, and order status may not come back while the trading connection is. ATAS will ask you to confirm new orders after one of these and show you the last messages it had from Rithmic. Flatten from somewhere you trust before you act on what is on the screen, then reconnect.

You changed the server and now it will not connect. Give it a few minutes. The previous session has to close on Rithmic's side first, and until it does, the new attempt just sits there.

Everything is laggy. Footprint charts are heavy, and loading months of tick history at the smallest cluster setting is usually what does it. Cut the history you load, widen the cluster, and close charts you are not trading. This is the same problem as the one above: the load that makes the charts slow is the load that drops the connection.

Who to ask

ATAS is not our software. We cannot fix its bugs, we do not have its source, and we cannot help with your licence or your ATAS bill.

The platform itself, crashes, layout, charting, indicators, licensing, billing for ATAS: ATAS support.

Your account, credentials, balances, what the rules are, billing with us: us, through the chat on any page.
