R|Trader Pro setup
Installing, connecting, and first login.
Updated September 11, 2026
R|Trader Pro is Rithmic's own front end, and the shortest path from checkout to a working DOM. Ten minutes, most of which is the download.
Before you start
You need an account on Rithmic. R|Trader Pro logs in with Rithmic credentials, so if you are not sure what you bought, check the feed behind each platform.
You need your Rithmic username and password. They are emailed to you after checkout and they are in your dashboard.
You need Windows 10 or later, not in S mode. There is no Mac or Linux build.
On a Mac, take the browser version at rtraderpro.rithmic.com first — the settings below are identical and so is everything that goes wrong. Running Windows in a virtual machine (Parallels, or VMware Fusion) works too. For a walkthrough, click here.
Install it
Download the installer from rithmic.com/rtraderpro and run it. Take the current version, not one already sitting in your Downloads folder: our system name only appears in recent builds, and a stale installer is the single most common reason it is missing from the list.
The login screen
Every field, and what to put in it.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| User Id | Your Rithmic username, exactly as the dashboard prints it |
| Password | Your Rithmic password, same |
| System | LumenFutures |
| Gateway | Chicago Area |
| Orders | On |
| Market Data | On |
| Allow Plugins | On |
| Aggregated Quotes | Off |
Username and password are both case sensitive.
System. Pick LumenFutures.
Gateway. Chicago Area.
Aggregated Quotes. Leave it off unless you know you want it. It thins the quote stream, which is easier on a slow connection and worse for anyone reading the ladder tick by tick.
Allow Plugins. On. Costs you nothing if you never use it, and turning it on later means restarting.
On your first login you will be asked to accept two CME market data agreements. You cannot get a quote until you do.
Agree to the first one. The second asks whether you use the data as a professional or a non-professional, and you have to pick one yourself — nobody sets it for you. Choose Non-Professional unless the criteria say otherwise: professional means you hold a financial licence, work for a financial firm, or use the data for a business rather than your own trading. Non-professional data is included in what you paid us. Professional is billed by Rithmic, per exchange, every month.
Once you are in
Before you place anything, check that you can see your account balance and live prices.
Your stops live on Rithmic's servers, not your PC. Brackets, trailing stops and OCO orders are held server side, so they survive your laptop dying mid-trade.
Level 1 data is included, and there is no separate data bill. What is included
On your phone
Rithmic publishes a mobile app, R|Trader Pro, on the App Store and Google Play. It signs in the same way — same credentials, same System, same gateway — and covers charts, order entry and open positions.
When it does not work
Password rejected. Nine times out of ten it is the System field, not the password. Confirm LumenFutures is selected, then confirm you are using your Rithmic credentials and not your Lumen website login — they are different logins to different systems.
LumenFutures is not in the System list. Your build is old. Download the installer again and reinstall over the top; on the browser version, hard refresh.
It will not log you in, and the credentials are right. Your Rithmic account is logged in somewhere else. Rithmic expects your credentials in one place, so close Quantower, ATAS, or whatever else is holding them, then try again. To run R|Trader Pro alongside another platform, log in here first with Allow Plugins on, then connect the other one through it.
Connection fails or times out. Turn off your VPN. This is the answer far more often than it deserves to be — a VPN adds latency and routes you somewhere the gateway does not expect. After that, check that your firewall is not holding the app.
The installer will not run. Right click, Run as administrator. If it still refuses, your antivirus is eating it.
Everything is laggy. Close tabs and other apps, drop the number of instruments you are streaming, and turn the VPN off again. R|Trader Pro is light; if it is struggling, something else is taking the machine.
Who to ask
R|Trader Pro is Rithmic's software, not ours. We cannot fix its bugs and we do not have its source.
The platform itself — crashes, layout, charting, a feature you cannot find: Rithmic, at support@rithmic.com or their FAQ.
Your account — credentials, balances, what the rules are, billing: us, through the chat on any page.
